This contest is open to everyone--visual and literary artists alike. We will have two themes for you to chose from.  We’d like to see your take on how the Mass Effect universe, especially our beloved members of the SSV Normandy, celebrate All Hallows Eve.

I’m sure your minds are already churning with ideas, but before you put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) we need to sort out the details.  As I said earlier, there are two themes to chose from which are:

1. A cultural exchange of ideas and traditions regarding the seasonal change celebration for the species represented in the Mass Effect universe, OR

2. A Halloween masquerade based on the human traditions of Halloween.

Your piece should fit into one of these two themes and we kindly request that when submitting your piece you state which theme it belongs to.  Now I know you lovely, talented folk will have an idea for both themes, but sadly we will only accept one submission per artist, so show us your best piece for ONE theme only!

Also, we will accept Mature pieces, but you must have your piece marked accordingly.  (That means, don’t try to slip in racy nudes without marking them as Mature.  I will not bail you out if the internet police clap you in irons for scarring some young, impressionable youth with your interpretation of Miranda’s breasts.)

You may chose any time within the Mass Effect time line--from the beginning of Mass Effect 1 all the way to the end of time (yes, even past the Mass Effect 3 ending).  For those of you who have an awesome Alternate Universe going, we’d love to see that as well, so feel free to submit your AU’s--just remember to show them engaging in one of the two themes mentioned.

For the literary artists we are putting a word count requirement on this contest.  We want to see some true build up with your characters.  Take us into your world, show us with your words what’s going on.  So, please make sure your piece is between 3,500 and 5,000 words.  Pieces that are under or over the word count will still be accepted but, sadly, will not be judged.  (Hey, rules are rules for a reason--and not ALL of them can be broken!)

Also, there’s this little issue about whether you exist or not.  So, when you go to submit you’ll have to be cleared by the C-Sec scanner.  If it’s showing that you...well...are dead (Hey, I understand, those pesky Collector’s got me as well!) we just need you to go see Commander Bailey (he’s the guy guarding the “become a member” button) and have him clear that up.  For those of you who didn’t get the reference--no shame, it happens--go pound your mouse on the “become a member” button and save yourself weeks of waiting in line for the Council to approve your existence!

Now, one final note and then I’ll let you get on your way; this contest will run from October 6th through November 17th and then the pieces will be judged and prizes will be awarded to the first and second place pieces for each theme.

Well, that’s all the nit picky detaily stuff, so off you go! Go on! Get working! I can’t wait to see the halloween mayhem you all come up with!!!

Prizes for each theme will be:

First place: 1 Month Premium membership
Second place: 200 Points
